The Great Firewall of China

I found this interesting site today. The Great Firewall of China lets you test a website URL to see if it has been blocked in China. I tried cnn.com, blocked, tried bbc.co.uk/news, blocked. It’s fairly addictive at times. The site has a graphical representation of the world and shows the route your request takes and if it gets pinged back or not.

I’m sorry to say the people of China cannot read my musings… it’s no great loss!

The people of China may have trouble understanding your musings but there’s no trouble reading them.

I’m in Changji Town, Xinjiang Province, PRC on a ADSL connection and can reach davidburden.com just fine! The ‘great firewall’ is more of a low fence with a ‘keep out’ sign.
